The Firefox Password Manager is built into Firefox itself. This allows your web browser to create Passwords and save passwords, addresses and even financial information. With the proper settings this will also allow all devices logged in to the same Firefox account to have access to these passwords. Allowing for a strong and unique password for all your logins and easily convenient to use on all of your devices.
How to access the Password Manager
- Open Firefox
- On desktop In the upper right corner select the list menu icon and select passwords
- On mobile select the vertical ellipsis and select passwords
How to review my password settings
I recommend all of these to be turned on
- Open Firefox Password Manager
- Open the menu using the horizontal ellipsis in the upper right hand corner of the password manager tab
- Select the settings option.
- Check the following boxes
- Ask to save passwords
- Fill Usernames and passwords automatically
- Suggest strong passwords
- Require device Sign in to fill and manage passwords
- Optional Setting
- Use a Primary Password
- Optional Setting
For backup and cross device use of your password you will want to turn on the profile sync
- Open Firefox.
- In the upper right corner select the list menu icon.
- Select Settings
- On Desktop
- Select Options
- Select Sync
- Click Manage what you sync
- Ensure passwords and passkeys are selected to sync
- On Mobile
- Tap on Settings, which is often displayed as vertical ellipsis in the upper right hand corner
- Tap sync and save
- Ensure passwords are selected to sync

How to create a strong password
With the setting “Offer to save passwords” turned on firefox will automatically offer you a strong password. For additional strength you could add a couple of extra random characters to the end.
Once you save the password with the site, Firefox Password Manager will then offer to save the username and password for you. Select to save the password and now you do not need to remember it any more.
How to view a saved password
- Open Firefox Password Manager
- Search for the site or username
- You can also scroll through the list of sites to find what you are looking for
- Find the username you are looking for
- select the box that contains the password and it will show it to you and allow you to copy it.

How to manually add a password
- Open Firefox Password Manager
- Click the button to add a new password.
- Enter the site
- Use the IP address for Routers
- Select app is also an option on Mobile
- Enter the username
- Enter the Password
- Make any notes required
- Select Save
How to review breached or weak passwords
- Open Firefox Password Manager
- When you select a saved username or password a warning will prompt if there has been a detected or suspected data breach involving that password
You should be updating any leaked or weak passwords. If you have an overwhelming number of them, start by updating 5 passwords a day. Making the task more manageable.
